Description
This is the final learning experience for this unit. Students will be advised of the summative assessment and what is required in their newspaper article writing. The task will be broken done so students know exactly what is being asked of them. The rubric will also be explained so students know how they are being assessed. Students will then begin researching and planning.

Learning Experience Overview
- Ask students what they have been learning about in History? - Australian Gold Rush
- Ask students what they have been learning about in English? - Newspaper articles
- Now ask students to brainstorm different ideas of how we could link both of these?
- Explain to student that student will be writing a newspaper article after the first week of being on the Australian Gold Rush.
- Students are to link their knowledge learnt in History about the gold rush with the skills learn about newspaper article writing and merge them together to produce a great piece of writing that will go to towards their report card.
- Hand out task sheet and criteria sheet and go through each stage. Ask students to highlight important pieces of information.
- Explain students will also need to hand in their plan with their final piece of writing.
- Explain that this is an individual task so their should not be any discussions with any of your peers, if you have a question you need to ask an adult in the room.
- Ask students if there are any questions.
- Advise students that the laptops and iPads are available to do research on for planning and also the library has kindly donated all the books we have been looking at in history plus others for you to use.
